Next time you’re in this boat, here are some “f-word” alternatives to focus on instead.
Forward. We are designed to move in this direction. Why? Creation never ends in our ever-expanding universe. We are created in God’s likeness and image. In other words, just as God does not move in reverse, or get stuck in neutral, neither do we. Remind yourself of this truth when it seems otherwise.
Forgive. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. So don’t hold a grudge. Be kind always. This includes how you treat yourself. A good way to quiet the negative self-talk: Would you talk to your friend in the same tone as you’re talking to yourself? If the answer is no, let it go.
Fresh. All your needs are met with each new moment. No matter what happened in the past, it’s always possible to begin anew. Don’t let opportunity grow stale.
Faith. Don’t let the past limit what you can do in the present. All things are possible, all of the time. Just as God created everything, so can God do anything. Release thoughts of doubt, lack, and limitation. Be still and believe.
Freedom. Just as every new moment carries the chance for greatness, so we are gifted with the chance to make a new choice. Be thankful for this moment. Release yourself from the chains of worry and indecision. Be open and available for divine wisdom and inspiration to show up in your life. Then let go, and listen for the answer. Chances are it will be something you never thought before.
First. What first step can you take that will set you in motion? (Forward.) It could be the act of forgiveness. It could be looking at circumstances through fresh eyes, or with renewed faith. You are now free.
