Life may seem random at times. But it doesn’t have to be. The key is choosing to live with intent. This can be tough at first. Here’s a three-part process that may help.
1. Be Clear.
The universe wants to give us what we want. But if we aren’t clear about what we’re asking for, it can’t happen. Don’t worry if your dream seems too big or you do not see an obvious “realistic” path to success. Being clear with what you want doesn’t mean the path is instantly clear (or easy). This is simply an exercise in setting your intention. In other words, don’t dwell on “how can this happen?” Doing so can make you feel perpetually foggy headed, restless, or confused. Instead, jump-start your focus so the spinning wheels in your head move in the right direction.
2. Practice Confidence.
Again, once your intention is set, your job is not to worry about how something will happen. Just as God created everything so can God do anything. Of course this does not mean being passive and waiting for a miracle to arrive on its own. Often the best way to practice confidence is to take an action. Then the universe responds with what we need when we need it.
A few years ago I felt called to join a two-year graduate-level writing program. My biggest block to signing up was the price tag. I didn’t see where the money would come from to pay for it. But ultimately I put my indecision aside and went for it anyway. The day after I officially enrolled, a recruiter contacted me to gauge my interest in a new position. The salary difference from my old job was exactly the full amount of the writing program.
I am not promising anything as to how long your answer will arrive. Not everything will happen according to your own schedule.
But the good news is your dreams do not come with expiration dates. So don’t give in to the temptation to bail out too soon on what you really want. Trust the timing of your life. In other words, make and believe.
Belief of course is an ongoing exercise, and can be especially tough when our dreams seem most challenged. This brings us to the third step:
3. Feel Connected.
If part one is about setting the right mental intention (the head), then in part two taking an action (the hand), you can say that part three is centered in the heart. Connecting with our source is what gives our intention and action power. This is especially important when you feel the need to recharge your energy. Now is the time to strengthen your resolve. How? By turning within. Meditation can help. So can prayer. Get in touch with the creative spirit who birthed you into being with Divine purpose and perfection. The first step is to feel into the truth of who you really are. No matter your circumstance, you won’t have “enough” until you feel you’re good enough right now.
None of this needs to happen on your own. I’d love to personally support, enlighten, and encourage you. Here’s how.
