You are the expert of your own life.
Nobody else can tell you who you are meant to be or what you are meant to do. Their intention may be good. However, give the most attention to what speaks to you from the depth of your soul. You may experience it as the small voice inside you that reminds you as to why you are here. This is the real you, not your protective ego.
This voice may sound a little scary. Doing something that makes us a little afraid is a good thing. It means that it is important and matters to us. Dream so big so that your desire and belief can conquer any adversity. Do not be afraid of your big dream.
I was at a conference where Jacquelyn Mitchard shared powerful words that have stuck with me through the years: “When you have a dream big enough to drive a hole through your heart, it does not give you permission to lead a small life.”
It requires courage to dream big so you can live big. It also requires disciplined, consistent effort as well as patience with yourself and trust in the entire process. Do not let adversity win.
It is easy to admire successful people and fool ourselves into thinking that their success was effortless or instant. An example is seeing a child prodigy seemingly born with innate talent. But what you don’t see is the hours and years of painstaking practice to hone their gifts.
Nobody ever said pursuing your dreams doesn’t require work. Your life is not a lottery ticket, like when you pray from your ego’s sense of separation to a Santa Claus-like God in the clouds who can magically grant you the winning quick pick combination. That is superstition.
No, the real you, is made with Divine intent. Therefore, pray from the seat of your soul with intent. Live with intent. Love with intent. Laugh with intent. Dance with intent. Celebrate with intent. Your intent is to live your true purpose. Wishing to win the lottery does not require intent, but is random luck.
A key principle in coaching is that the answers are already inside of you. A coach’s central role is not to give (especially unsolicited) advice but to facilitate the emergence of your true potential until your life bubbles over in bliss with meaning and magic. A coach may need to push and prod by holding you accountable, and it may not always be pleasant, but in the end, you’ll be better for following through on your commitment and achieving your goals.
